2021+ Ford F150 - Transfer case skid plate bolts - I was set to change the fluid in my transfer case , attempted to take the bolts off the skid plate and it appears like the bolt/clips broke and are spinning inside the frame. I'm about to cut the bolt heads off, thought I'd see if others have found a simpler solution...tornadowatchranch. 104 posts · Joined 2013. #13 · Mar 8, 2016. I found the skid plate bolts at Menards. They are 6mm x 20mm coarse thread flange bolt. They are not tapered like the Polaris ones but fit great and are cheaper and more accessible for those of us not close to a dealership.The skid plate bolts are 12mm head size (M8x1.25 thread size) I would also vote for carefully drilling and tapping to the next size up , and I would stress the carefully part, if you break the tap off or the welded nut then it's a whole new problem.
