Rear axle seal leaking
Thanks in advance. My Mechanic and I have Venza's, Both our cars had blown rear-axle seals due to a rusted breather valve... when the valve is rusted or clogged the seals blow to protect the axle. I changed both seals and a new breather valve. Cost about 80$ to replace the 3 parts and 1 hour labor.So I had an axle seal leak (front passenger) back in April, and took the Jeep in to the dealership and they changed out a new seal. Only a month goes by and I found the same seal began leaking again. I know this is some crazy bad luck, but does anyone know if there are possible reasons behind this leak, other than that the dealership did a poor job?

Axle seals are very easy and cheap as long as a bad seal hasn't worn a grove into the axle itself. If it has and the grove is not substantial, you can carefully take it out with some emory cloth. If the grove is bad bad, the axle should be replaced as the new seal will leak too. That's about all the help I have 4 ya.2 Do one side at a time. The axle tube is full of tranny oil, so I jack up that side of the car so the axle tube will drain back into the tranny. Makes it a LOT easier to clean things up before installing the new seals. Both axle seals on rear were leaking so we replaced both along with bearings while we had it apart. Driver side has held up great. Passenger side kept leaking so we replaced it again. It leaked even worse. So I went and bought a different brand seal that was suppose to be way better and it was 5x the price as the last one.Just joined the right rear axle seal leak club, 7000 miles.
