Owning a 50 year old Perkins 4-236 I totally agree with the idea of closing the raw water source until you get the motor running to alleviate the problem of water coming in from the exhaust system/heat exchanger. You can run this for about 5-10 minutes before it overheats but it will cause a little excess wear to your raw water impeller.CASE-IH 475.
