The transfer case seal it designed to keep fluid in, there is no grease retainer to keep ATF in the transfer case from contacting the grease.. If you grease the spline, grease can migrate into the TC and contaminate the ATF and cause a failure. ONLY use ATF to lube driveshaft spline.
