Pry the differential cover off with a flathead screwdriver or small pry bar. Let the differential fluid drain into the drain pan. Remove the differential cover gasket from the differential pan and dispose of it. Clean the differential pan and the differential thoroughly.

This isn't really an easy fix. There is a lot of disassembly required to remove the axle tube to fix the leak. I've seen people pull the plastic part away from the case and squirt RTV around it and bolt it back on. This can help, but doesn't really fix the problem. My 2005 TACOMA, double cab, 4wd sport had the drivers side front diff seal leaking at 23,000 miles. No lift and really never been off road. The toyota dealership replaced the diff plus both cv shafts under warranty because when the shaft was removed, the bearing had disintegrated and the shaft had wobbled causing the seal to leak.Could be the failing seal where the CV axle slides into the differential.
