Jun 16, 2014. #1. 1) Hey guys my 79 FJ40 steering wheel is cocked to the left about 4 inches. How do I get it back to zero without taking the steering wheel off? 2) The steering wheel has about three inches on play in it. I would like to teach the princess how to drive it but know she can't handle that much play.It took about 5 min per side. It came out fine without further damage to the axle housing. I was also able to clean up most of the existing corrosion with some 400 grit sand paper and a gentle touch. For the bearing race I took it to a mechanic to pull the old ones and press on the new ones.
