Bypassing factory amplifier
Id like to replace the factory amp which is located under the passenger seat with an aftermarket amp. has anyone done this ? Anyone have a wiring diagram of the factory fitted audio system? The wires from the harness go to the amp, they are essentially pre outs, but since they are in the form of speaker outputs, they are high level inputs to the factory amplifier. I had to make my speaker wire harness for the VDC when I put my system in after the McIntosh system failed. The Mc system used a DIN cable to the amp and then the speaker harness connected to the output from the amp.I've got a similar setup, though mine is AirPlay to a processor that bypasses the OEM H/U. My only hestitation is the lack of true volume control. The BT connection generally needs the phone to be set up with the volume very loud, which may cause havoc with the amplifiers input gains. By bypassing the amp, you're now using these wires to drive the speakers which limits the power your head unit can send to the speakers.
