Coolant fills to top of funnel as it expands, all the while squeezing top and bottom rad hoses. Let car idle at least 5 min after fans kick in. Shut car off. By this time the funnel is nearly full of coolant that has expanded. Ill walk away for and hour or so while car cools down and engine 'sips' back the coolant.Pull the front up on ramps or an incline with the cap off, fill to the full line, run the engine with the heater on and the bubble will works it's way out. Will take 20 minutes or so. You get the bubble from filling the coolant/water too fast. When done, fill slightly above the full arrow and check in a day or so.

Whoever the idiot was who filled the system last time used mostly water (looks like maybe 90% water), so it was boiling and causing alot of air in the system. What I always do, on the Aerostar, is help burp it by squeezeing the opper hose. This forces the bubbles out, and the coolant flows in. It may take a while. Make certain the thermostat is installed faceing the correct direction. This should be with the thermostatic chamber faceing the engine.Watch bubbles (if any) come out in the funnel and level of coolant decrease. Add coolant as needed to keep level in the funnel. In the case of my 1976 Corvette, I simplified the cooling system by deleting the heater hoses when I rebuilt the air-conditioning blower and installed a new heater core. At that point, I chose to plug the inlet and outlet heater core tubes and get rid of the old hoses which helped clean up the engine bay. The rest of the system remained unchanged.The funnel way is the easiest. Or cut the bottom of a 2 litre Coke plastic bottle, use a hole saw cut the top of a old radiator cap, and glue, or silastic the top of the Coke bottle into the radiator cap. This is the fastest, most reliable way to fill a difficult to fill/burp cooling system I have found.
