Got the new oem stat put in and new cap. Filled the top radiator hose with coolant along with the radiator. I put on the radiator funnel filled it half way and started to burp the system. After about 30 min the coolant started to boil and rising fast in the funnel I shut off the car. The temp gauge never got hot..
